The Trust
The awards for 'Outstanding Political Reporting of the Year' and the 'Prem Bhatia Scholarship for Research in Media Related Subjects' are also presented on the occassion of The Annual Prem Bhatia Memorial Lecture which is held on August 11.
A board of trustees was formed and Mr. Justice Sarkaria was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Trust. Mr. J.B. Dadachanji, a senior supreme court lawyer, kindly provided a constitution for the trust. Under which it was proposed to establish a fund and invite contributions from Prem Bhatia’s friends and admirers. The corpus thus formed would be judiciously invested and the income from the accruing interest would finance the following activities.
The trust is registered under section 12(A)(a) of the Income tax Act, 1961 and tax exemption is granted under section 80G (5) (vi) of the same act.
